New Release: Higher Learning anthology from Dreamspinner Press

Just a quick note that I have a new short story out. It's part Higher Learning, an anthology of M/M stories set in college.

My story is called "Bug Boy." Here's the blurb:

Dan Holbrook remembers Jesse Milner as the social misfit from his third grade class—the quiet boy in the glasses who liked to play with bugs. When he encounters Jesse again as a junior in college, the glasses and the bugs are still there, but in every other way he’s changed. Handsome and self-assured, Jesse is exactly Dan’s type, but a decade of resentment over past rejections has made Jesse wary. Dan resolves to do whatever he has to in order to crack that prickly exoskeleton and get close to Jesse, no matter how hard Jesse tries to push him away.

New Free Read : Heart and Soul

Now that we're halfway through August, I finally got around to posting Heart and Soul, my Hot July Days story, as a free read. It's up on my website, or you can download the free ebook from SmashWords to view on your eReader.

Summary: The tattoos on Duke's body tell the stories of all the times he's loved and lost. His best friend, Ben, knows all the stories. But Ben doesn't want to be written on Duke's skin. He wants to be in Duke's heart.

Hope you enjoy!

Letting Go now on Amazon, ARe, etc.

Just a quick note that Letting Go is now available through other book distributors, including Amazon, AllRomance eBooks, and Fictionwise.

Also, this may be incredibly lame, but can I just say that there is something incredibly awesome about seeing your name on Amazon? Seriously. All kinds of warm fuzzies over here!

Review Round-up for Letting Go

A few lovely people have had some lovely things to say about Letting Go.

So You Think You Can Write
Jeanette Grey is a truly gifted writer that tells a heartfelt story of love and loss and does it in a way that we can all relate to. There’s no quick roll in the hay or a love-at-first-sight encounter here. What Letting Go is is a story of love and its many different facets and when you truly look at it, you find that love, in all it’s wonderful phases, fills your heart like pieces of a puzzle, making you feel complete no matter what the circumstances in life are currently throwing your way.

Brief Encounters
Overall, I came away from this story with a positive feeling for the two men. David goes through a lot in terms of emotion in the story, but it ends well for him and as such I was happy. This story would appeal to those looking for a slightly angsty read with an engaging hero and I would recommend it.

Serena Yates / Queer Magazine Online
If you like stories with depth and background, don't mind them to be a little serious and are ready to deal with some serious questions and the emotions this book will make you feel, you will probably like it.

Pin : Fuck Me Friday

Aisling Weaver is kind enough to post prompts every Friday on her site. Just for fun I thought I'd give it a go.

...

Pinned

I used to hate when he would pin me down. It felt too vulnerable, too weak, and I would stiffen up. And not in the way that he'd intended.

He was just affectionate, I reminded myself. Tactile. He liked to wrestle, and nothing turned him on more than when we ran around together on the rugby field, pretending to just be friends while we worked up a sweat.

The way he'd fuck me when we got home on days like that...

"Hey, where'd you go?" he asked, there on top of me, his cock against mine, his face so close that I could feel him breathe. I could count the pores on his nose and the see the texture of his irises.

I could feel his hands on my shoulders. His knees on my thighs.

Pinned.

Suddenly, all the thoughts of his body, sweaty after a game, retreated again to the other thoughts. The bad ones.

I could feel other hands. They hurt.

It was just a flash. A memory. Something I had gotten past. Or at least that's what I told myself.

I forced myself back to the here and now, to lying on my bed beneath my lover instead of helpless in a field.

"Nowhere," I croaked, forcing a smile as I focused on his eyes. I felt like I might vomit. "I'm right here."

"No you're not," he insisted, one hand letting my arm go, and I felt blood rush back to the skin there. Tenderly, he touched the side of my face, leaning down to kiss my lips. I couldn't quite bring myself to open them, just like I'd never managed to open up in other ways. To tell him what it reminded me of when he held me down this way instead of gritting my teeth and waiting for him to let me go.

Still, the kisses came, soft, sweet ones all along the corners of my mouth and up my cheeks. Remembering the difference between then and now, my body began to relax, my free hand coming up to touch his where it was still heavy on my bicep.

"Let go," I whispered.

"I will." He nodded and pressed his lips to just below my ear. "Someday, I hope you do, too."
